Here at Starter's Bakery, we’ve taken care to dehydrate and preserve this powerful culture so you can enjoy the art of sourdough baking at home. With just a few simple steps, you'll soon be working with a lively, active starter that's ready to bring amazing flavor and texture to your breads. Follow along with our detailed instructions to wake up your starter and set it on the path to bubbly, delicious success!
Items you will need:
• Quart-size jar with lid
• Small spatula
• Rubber band or marker
• Kitchen scale
• Dehydrated sourdough starter (5 grams)
• Unbleached flour (bread or all-purpose)
• Filtered or spring water
Instructions

Place dehydrated starter in a jar, add 25g water, stir, cover, and let sit for one hour. Stir again to dissolve, then add 25g flour and mix. Mark the mixture’s height. Cover and let rest at room temperature for 24 hours.

Check for a smooth texture with no bubbles. Combine 10g of the mixture with 25g each of flour and water, discarding the rest. Mix, cover, and let sit for 24 hours.

Look for minimal bubbling. Repeat the feeding: combine 10g of the mixture with 25g each of flour and water. Discard the rest, mix, cover, and let sit 24 hours.

Morning: Feed as before.
Evening: Check for bubbles and slight rise in height. -
Your starter should now be active, with bubbles and increased volume. Feed as needed and use with your favorite sourdough recipe!
